José Afonso Cavaquinhas school in Seixal, commemorated it’s 50th birthday by inviting a former student of the school, Alexandre Farto who had studied there from 2001 to 2005, to work on a portrait of “Zeca” Afonso (a great portuguese singer/poet/activist and one of the strongest voices against the right-wing dictatorship period that ended in 1974, 40 years ago) along with some of the school students.
I went back to the school where I study 9 years ago in the suburbs of Lisbon, Seixal for a workshop. Great to give something back. The portrait is from José Afonso, a great portuguese singer/poet/activist and one of the strongest voices against the right-wing dictatorship period that ended in 1974, 40 years ago. The school is named after is name.
